X Rays This Week

Our regular vet happened to see Wyatt last week for a shot and also saw the back pain. So I scheduled X-Rays for Wednesday. She mentioned that he might have some arthritis but that could be treatable with anti-inflammatory drugs. Meanwhile, Wyatt seems better to me in terms of his energy and back pain.

Hi John,

I'm so glad you have a diagnosis for Wyatt. I just *knew* you were going to find something physical from the way you were describing his behavior and reluctancy to do agility.

Great to give him the time off and when you start up again, do lots of stretching before and after every workout. Do you have a holistic vet in your area? I give my dogs Arnica (orally) after every workout, and I'll even ice my Golden's shoulder. (He has one area of weakness as ID'd by the chiropractor. They say it will likely never cause him trouble, but since we ID'd it, I'm trying to do everything I can to keep it from bothering him, etc.)

I know what you mean about the time off being harder for you then for the dog! I totally feel the same way. When my dogs are on "down time" I borrow a friend's dog so I have something to feed my training addiction.

We'll send lots of positive, healing thoughts Wyatt's way!

Best,
Stephanie, Zoie and Quiz

Thanks so much for the nice note, Stephanie. I was definately taking his physical health and motivation for granted. We will be paying much more attention to warming up and cooling down. Massage is also supposed to be part of our warm up and cool down.
